Judah Ezkendar Tafari

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. (Gen. 49:10) The Hebrew meaning of the word Judah is praise Jehovah. It is evident that Judah represents the spiritual faculty that corresponds to accumulation or increase in the mental; this is prayer and praise. (Meta.)

Ronald Merrills otherwise known as Judah Eskender-Tafari with his captivating melodic voice, delivers the positive message of faith, hope and charity through music.  His new release titled Redemption Time is featured on the Shine Your Light, compilation CD.  He first realized his talent when he meet Munaire Smith while at camp.  Smith thought the young Merrills how to play box guitar and he naturally developed his vocals as he played on the stringed instrument.  As a youth growing up in Jamaica, Eskender enjoyed listening to music by artists like Delroy Wilson, Ken Booth, Bob Marley, John Holt, Burning Spear, and Dennis Brown, Smokey Robinson, Luther Vandross, and Stevie Wonder, to name a few.

Sister Carol

SISTER CAROL

Born and raised in the ghettos of Kingston, Sister Carol had an early influence by the music scene from being close to her father who worked as a engineer at Jamaica’s radio station, RJR.  There she met many prominent reggae contributors including Studio One’s legendary Clement “Coxsone” Dodd.  Her family migrated to America where she continued her education, and maintained a strong connection to her culture.
Sister Carol began her musical career, following in the footsteps of one of her mentors and friend, DJ Brigadier Jerry.  The thriving dancehall scene of the ‘70s welcomed her rich blend of style and culture.  Her influence was so positive, it placed her in the spotlight and she was offered an opening slot for one of Jamaica's finest vocal trios, The Meditations.
Not long after, she recorded her first two records, Liberation for Africa and Black Cinderella, then Tuff Gong label released Isis-the Original Womb-Man.  Since then, she has made over 8 CDs, including her 1996 release, Lyrically Potent, for which she received a highly regarded Grammy nomination

The industry calls for Sister Carol in more ways than one, for instance, she appeared in two Jonathan Demme movies, Something Wild and Married to the Mob, made several television appearances including, NBC's David Lettermen and Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and then there are the countless articles written about her work in publications such as Billboard, and the Village Voice.  To add to her versatile style, she was the familiar voice, as MC, behind Night Music with David Sanborn.

Jahziel Napthali

If you haven’t heard him yet, get ready to be awaken by the positive lyrical content, infused with the upbeat sounds, reminiscent of his Ethiopian experiences. Jahziel from the tribe of Naphtali. grew up in the headquarters of the Twelve Tribes of Israel in New York and was exposed to Orthodox music as a babe.

“Naphtali is a hind let loose: He giveth goodly words”
(Gen, 49:21)    He made his first appearance in music as a reggae DJ for The Twelve Tribes of Israel sound system and later branched off as a singer/songwriter. Jahziel has worked with talented artists such as; Half Pint, Visionaires, Abyssinians, Ken Booth, and Fred Locks. He was opening act for Lucky Dube backed by Admas Band and Burning Spear at Woodstock.

Ever on the move, he traveled internationally, appearing on various venues and spreading the message of love through the music.  As a feature artist for Orthodox Showcase he performed in Grenada, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, London, Paris, Jamaica and recently in Ethiopia where he appeared and sang with Bob Andy, Sydney Salmon and Ethiopias’ top chart artists Teddy Afro, and Gigi Aster Aweke.

His new release titled Ethiopian Princess and Ethiopia Betam Conjo is featured on the Shine Your Light compilation CD under the Orthodox Muzik label which is set to be released in the Fall of 2005.  The mind is opened to the light, and the soul grows into consciousness giving strength to all who will listen to the words in his songs.

Bazil Gayle

Bazil Gayle

“Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, And he shall yield royal dainties”
(Gen, 49:20).

“When man takes spiritual understanding conscientiously into all the affairs of life, he does far better than he ever has done theretofore.”
(Meta.-Asher)

Love God, live love, and your light will shine.  This is the message that comes from singer/songwriter Bazil Gayle who, from the Tribe of Asher, started his musical career performing for the Twelve Tribes of Israel stage shows in Kingston Jamaica.
If the voice could be compared to a texture, then Bazil Gayle a.k.a. Asher Visionaires’ voice would be silk.  With his debut solo title track called Shine Your Light and another tune called She, his lyrics are ever uplifting.  Featured on the Shine your Light compilation CD, which is a production of Selassie I Brothers in Association with Orthodox Muzik,  He is also a featured artist on Sister Carol’s self produced album called Tribute to Studio 1.

Though this is the first time that Bazil will be performing as a solo artist, he is a veteran in the entertainment industry as a member of the world reknown group Visionaires, who still puts out one hit tune after another. Songs like I will follow Jah, and Sweetness which was No. 1 in 2001 for Plush label otherwise known as WRTN-FM Link Up Radio with DJ Squeeze broadcasting from New York, Visionaires deliver the message of universal love.  Visionaires performed in Canada, Jamaica, and New York City on numerous venues and graced the stage alongside notably artists like the legendary Robert Nesta Marley, Dennis Emmanuel Brown, Fred Locks, Freddy McGregor, Persuaders, and Burning Spear to name a few.

Being a member of The Twelve Tribes of Israel, Bazil Gayle gives credit for all that he knows to the teachings of Dr. Vernon Carrington a.k.a. Prophet Gad who said, one should read The Old Scofield Study Bible, a chapter a day, with a clean heart and an open mind. In it one will find the truth for their self.  Also with the bible, read the Metaphysical Bible Dictionary, and Philosophy & Opinions of Marcus Garvey.
The substance of true spiritual bread is emanated by Bazil Gayle in his lyrical content and sweet melodic voice as he causes wisdom and understanding to harmonize in the state of consciousness.
